Gratkit Matte PLA, also known as Matte Finished PLA, is a type of 3D printing filament made from polylactic acid (PLA) plastic that has been processed to have a matte or non-glossy finish. Matte PLA filaments are available in a range of colors and are popular among 3D printing enthusiasts for their unique finish and texture.
-
Matte finish: Matte PLA has a non-glossy finish that gives it a unique look and feel. The surface of the printed object is more textured and less shiny than regular PLA, which can be desirable for certain applications.
-
Easy to print: Matte PLA is easy to print with, similar to regular PLA. It has good layer adhesion and is less prone to warping than other 3D printing filaments.
-
Biodegradable: Like regular PLA, Matte PLA is made from biodegradable and renewable resources such as cornstarch and sugarcane. This makes it an environmentally friendly option for 3D printing.
-
Safe for food contact: Matte PLA is safe for food contact and can be used to make food containers and utensils. However, it's important to note that not all PLA filaments are safe for food contact, so it's important to choose a filament that is specifically labeled as such.
-
Limited post-processing: The matte finish of Matte PLA is achieved through a special processing technique, which can make it difficult to post-process the printed object (e.g. sanding or polishing) without affecting the matte finish
Be aware Matte PLA has a Tensile performance that is slightly weaker than standard PLA.
It is also abrasive to print, similar to glitter or glow in the dark, so you may be replacing your nozzles sooner.

Filament Guide| Filament | Temperature | Bed Temperature |
| PLA | 200±10(All metal hotend+5) | 50 - 60 |
| PLA+ | 200 - 220 | 30 - 60 |
| TPU (Slow 25- 40mm/s) | 210 - 230 | 30 - 60 |
| PETG | 200 - 240 | 80 - 120 |
Key Benefits
- 100% bio-degradable - 95% PLA
- Exceptional quality control means no issues with tangles on the roll meaning the surface of the printouts will be smoother and more delicate, roll will not jam.
- No cracking/brittle problems, no popping or blockages, packaged in vacuum sealed bag with desiccant
- Low material shrinkage rate, uniform diameter (1.75mm)
- Accurate to a true tolerance ±0.03MM

Questions
Will it fit my printer?
If your printer takes 1.75mm filament, yes. That covers Artillery, Creality, Bambu Lab, Prusa and most others.
Do I need to dry it?
Fresh out of the vacuum bag, no — it’s sealed dry with desiccant and ready to print. PLA does slowly absorb moisture from the air, though, so a roll that’s been sitting out for weeks can start to print poorly: popping or crackling at the nozzle, extra stringing, a rough or bubbly surface, or filament that snaps easily.
If that happens, dry it at around 45–50°C for 4–6 hours in a filament dryer. Don’t go hotter, as PLA softens and the spool can stick together. Store opened rolls in a sealed bag or box with desiccant between prints. Our filament dryers make this easy.
Can I buy in bulk?
Yes — bulk and wholesale enquiries are welcome. Get in touch.
